2. Accuracy & Tolerance Limits of Color Extraction

While our image color picker uses advanced pixel extraction algorithms, several factors can affect the accuracy of the color codes generated. It is important to understand these limitations when using our tool for professional design work:

  • Image Quality & Compression: Lossy image formats like JPEG or WEBP use compression that can slightly alter pixel color values, meaning the extracted color code may not perfectly match the original design.
  • Browser Rendering Variations: Different web browsers (such as Chrome, Safari, and Firefox) use different rendering engines, which can introduce subtle variations in how colors are drawn and sampled on a canvas.
  • Display & Screen Calibration: Colors can look different depending on your monitor's display settings, color space configuration, and calibration. A color code extracted on one screen may look different on another.
  • Digital-to-Print Translation: Digital color spaces like RGB and HEX do not translate perfectly to print color spaces like CMYK. We recommend verifying color values with physical swatch books (such as Pantone) before printing final designs.

3. Accessibility & Contrast Calculation Disclaimer

Our accessibility checker calculates contrast ratios based on the WCAG 2.1 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. However, these calculations are based on standard digital formulas and may not account for all user conditions, display types, or viewing environments. While passing our checks is a good indicator of readability, we recommend testing your designs with real users to ensure they are fully accessible.

Our Brand Color Detector matches extracted colors to the signature colors of popular global brands. These matches are based on color similarity and are for reference only. ColorPicker.Codes is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of the brands listed in our database, and we do not claim ownership of their intellectual property.
